Solectria Renewables, a U.S. PV inverter manufacturer, announced that its megawatt solar station, with two SGI 500XT’s, was chosen for the 1.43MW ground-mount solar array at Fort Carson just outside of Colorado Springs, Colorado. The system will produce 2,195,000 kWh annually.

Fort Carson is an active U.S. Army installation that supports 10 military units with more than 19,000 active-duty personnel. The Army has a strong commitment to clean, renewable energy; and, Fort Carson has one of the most forward-thinking energy strategies and track records in the Department of Defense. One objective of the installations’ Garrison Commander Strategic Action Plan is to sustain all facility and mobility systems from renewable sources by 2027.

Infinity Construction Services, and Intermountain Electric, a wholly owned subsidiary of Quanta Services, worked together as the EPC contractor for this project.

“As a veteran owned company, we were excited to join forces with one of the largest EPC contractors in the country to contribute to Hensel Phelps Construction Co. and the United States Army Corp of Engineers’ renewable energy effort at Ft. Carson,” says Darrel Wilmoth, President of ICS. “We’re proud of the hard work performed by our engineering and construction teams and we look forward to providing operations and maintenance services for the array.”

“IME has used Solectriainverters in a prior project and were pleased with the product and support from Solectria during the final commissioning stage,” says Joel Cipcic, Division Director of Solar at IME.

“Solectria’s value was evident to ICS and IME and we are excited about the prospect of partnering on more solar projects,” said John Shaw, Regional Sales Manager of Solectria Renewables. “It’s an honor to be chosen by such an expert in the industry, especially considering their high standards for suppliers and equipment efficiency, reliability, and options.”
