There’s a new white paper on improving quality control in residential rooftop solar installations. The white paper is titled “The Importance of Reliable Solar Mounting Systems” and as co-written by an impressive list of racking-and-mounting companies (including Quick Mount PV, HatiCon Solar and Orion Solar Racking), one well-known installer (Cinnamon Solar) and Solar Marketing Group. The report addresses the fundamental question of how the industry can double the number of solar homes without doubling the amount of damage from poor installation practices.
The report addresses the fundamental question of how the industry can double the number of solar homes without doubling the amount of damage from poor installation practices.
We caught up with Barry Cinnamon, owner and founder of Cinnamon Solar (and former president of Westinghouse Solar), who says he found some important flaws in some of the older systems because installers improvised the systems instead of following the protocols.
Hear that and other interesting insights from Cinnamon in our Solar Speaks podcast series. What problems have you seen with racking installations? Let us know, and we’ll pose them to the study’s authors to give their thoughts on what you’re seeing in the field.
