OnGrid, a developer of financial modeling and presentation software for the solar industry, as well as various educational resources and live workshops, has created an in-depth video explaining utility bills. The video is meant to help solar installers explain utility bills, and how owning a solar array can impact them, to potential customers. Solar Power World caught up with OnGrid President Michael Bishop to discuss the company and video.
How long has OnGrid been around, and what’s next for the company?
We’ve been at work since 2005. We’re excited to make OnGrid software simpler, smarter and faster. Through always-improving software and other new resources, we want to help solar professionals be as effective as possible.
Why did you develop a video detailing the intricacies of utility bills?
Solar is a very strong financial investment for many people. Most financially responsible people won’t invest in something unless they feel that they understand it. Solar’s impact on utility bills is central to the overall solar investment. We want to make sure solar professionals understand related nuances, so they can effectively model and communicate the solar investment.
How did you make it?
Quick Mount PV was kind enough to lend us their green screen studio. Johan Alfsen of QuickMount PV happened to be practicing with his rock band in the next room over, so we crashed their practice session beforehand to get amped up!
