Renusol America, a provider of solar PV mounting solutions with systems installed across the U.S., announced that it has provided its rail-less and modular Renusol EW mounting system for 2,472 Canadian Solar PV panels on a low slope rooftop at Haas Automation in Oxnard, CA. Renusol partnered with REC Solar, a national provider of commercial solar and energy solutions, to develop the 779kW (DC) commercial system. Haas Automation is the largest machine tool builder in the western world and expects to save over $110,000 annually on its electricity bills with this solar installation.
Renusol’s ballast only east-west facing mounting system was engineered to meet the latest Structural Engineers Association of California (SEAOC) guidelines, including wind and seismic effects. The system design uniquely addresses a building’s structural characteristics, like low slope roofing. In addition to partnering with REC Solar, Renusol worked with RBI Solar and Kuykendall Solar to complete the installation.
“As a ballast only system without rails, the Renusol EW avoids the cost and risks of water intrusion in attached systems, and there are no long rails sitting on the roof blocking water flow, which can be an issue on low slope roofs,” noted Adam Brescia, Renusol America Regional Sales Manager.
Wind tunnel tested and with integrated ballast blocks, the Renusol EW allows for greater array density and lower ballast weights, without needing wind deflectors on the roof. The system is modular and the mounting posts assemble with a single nut, reducing shipping and installation costs.
“Over 18 years working directly with more than five hundred American businesses, REC Solar has developed a deep understanding of the pressures businesses face to lower energy costs, while meeting soaring demand for sustainable solutions,” said Mike Symmes, Project Manager at REC Solar. “REC partners with leading energy providers ranging from Duke Energy to Renusol to provide businesses an end-to-end solution that propels business forward. Our work with Renusol is a perfect example of a partnership that brings bottom line savings and environmental benefits to Haas Automation.”
