OTC_2016_Power ElectronicsThe Spanish company, a leader in power electronics, appropriate also called Power Electronics, will participate with its cutting-edge innovations at the Offshore Technology Conference in Houston, as part of its industrial push into the US market.

The major investment that the company has made in the renewable energy sector, without losing sight of its underlying values and original essence, has enabled the solar division to participate in the installation of 1.5 GW of clean energy in the USA.

Power Electronics has a presence in 15 US cities and has a factory of nearly 2,000 square metres in Phoenix. The company has a sizeable market niche in the solar photovoltaic sector, and its aim is to extend this success to the industrial market.

It is the first time that Power Electronics has presented the XMV660 Outdoor at a Trade Fair. The design of the Medium-Voltage Variable Speed Drive means that it can be exposed to the elements, which eliminates additional costs and helps energy efficiency.

XMV 660 INDOOR and OUTDOOR
The market for outdoor variable speed drives is growing strongly, and the valuable features of the XMV660 Outdoor VSD for power supplies of 2.3-15KV and motors of up to 7,500Kw is drawing the attention of big players in the oil & gas, power generation, and water application sectors.

The main characteristics include: a stainless steel casing, which guarantees durability in the most extreme conditions, with mineral insulation, which reduces temperature increases from solar radiation; a non-stop cooling system with cyclonic air filtration that enables the unit to resist extreme environments and endure long maintenance cycles; and built in redundancies that ensure the equipment keeps running.

It is a robust and low-maintenance product that is at the same time innovative, reliable, and resistant, with an IP55 / NEMA 3R protection level.

It is a unit designed to industry standards, with an innovative ventilation system incorporating centrifugal cyclones that supply the unit with a constant flow of clean air.

It is built to endure extreme temperatures of up to 50ºC, ice, dust, moisture, and even sandstorms. The XMV660’s topology represents a new level in terms of features, using modular and well-tested low-voltage technology.

The company will also be presenting the XMV660 Indoor US, which has UL certification that allows it to be sold in the US and Canada.

The XMV660 Indoor contains all the features of the Outdoor unit but for indoor use, and is designed to the strictest safety standards for the most demanding industrial environments.

The XMV660 Indoor is available in a wide range of voltages and power outputs, with the complete range offering high-quality outputs, maximum motor care, maximum safety, high levels of reliability, and low maintenance. The unit has successfully proven itself on offshore platforms in the Gulf of Mexico.
