Solarrus Corporation, a leading independent service provider in the U.S. solar, electric vehicle and battery energy storage industries, announced this week that it is changing its name to MaxGen Energy Services.

The company’s existing brands – True South Renewables, Solarrus, and Solarrus EVS – will be retired from commercial use over the coming months and all commercial relationships will be migrated to the MaxGen Energy Services name.  MaxGen CEO Mark McLanahan said, “The time has come to align our team and our service platform under a single brand.  Our highest priority is to maximize generation of our customers’ assets and the MaxGen name best reflects our commitment to that goal.”

The company’s services will continue to extend across a comprehensive scope of work:

  • In the commercial and residential solar markets, MaxGen delivers industry-leading solar operations and maintenance (O&M) services on a nationwide basis.  Existing O&M customers familiar with True South Renewables will continue to experience the same high-quality, professional service.
  • As the distributed energy grid evolves to incorporate electric vehicle charging and battery energy storage systems, MaxGen provides full design-build capabilities.  The company continues to provide O&M to this equipment after it is placed in service, making MaxGen a comprehensive service provider for the full life-cycle of customers’ energy infrastructure needs.
  • For utility-scale projects, MaxGen delivers complete solar power plant O&M services, including central NERC/CIP monitoring, control and compliance, preventative and corrective maintenance with dedicated onsite staff, system performance optimization, and complete operational reviews and reporting for customers.  Our utility-scale customers will continue to appreciate the safety, quality and performance that MaxGen delivers today.
  • The company also provides ancillary services to its owner, operator, EPC, and OEM customers including module washing, vegetation control, site maintenance, spare parts management, equipment warehousing, and warranty processing.

MaxGen’s recent acquisition of operations management software company, Power Factors, extends the service offering further with the highly scalable and bankable operations management platform, Power Factors Insight.

“PF Insight will continue to be available to customers as an independent data and operations platform.  In addition, MaxGen will run its entire operations, including monitoring, alerts, work order management, planning & scheduling, and reporting on PF Insight,” remarked Joe Brotherton, the SVP of Plant Operations and Maintenance.  “PF Insight is already being used by some of the leading renewable energy companies and utilities in the U.S. market, and as the largest independent operator in the US, we expect to gain huge operational advantages with its implementation.”

As solar, battery energy storage, and EVs continue to transform the U.S. energy infrastructure landscape, the need for an independent, scalable, and bankable service provider like MaxGen Energy Services is greater than ever.  MaxGen now has one of the most experienced operations and maintenance teams in the industry and the market-leading information platform.  With its centralized operations capabilities and distributed, highly-skilled field maintenance professionals, MaxGen Energy Services is optimally positioned to safely and reliably operate the increasingly complex network of distributed energy resources being installed across the U.S. power grid.
