The Flex MLPE
Flex MLPE offers customers, suppliers, and financial communities the solution that improves return on investment at each level and guarantees to reduce the O&M cost over the life time of any project.
Solar installations are designed to produce energy for over 25 years, regardless of aging or exposure to the natural elements in different geographies. Current MLPE offerings were designed to be added to a PV Module; they provide fixed functionality (one size fits all) and require on all PV Modules in a system. Current MLPE is not designed to be adopted to new technology once deployed, making the retrofit improvement extremely costly.
Flex MLPE addresses these limitations by providing flexibility for changing conditions and much more. The world is a dynamic place and Flex MLPE allows newly available technology to be selectively applied to your solar. The TS4 platform, the Flex MLPE pioneer in the market can be installed on site, optimized, replaced and later upgraded unlike first generation MLPEs.
The introduction of the Flex MLPE concept positions Tigo years ahead of our competition by allowing our installations to be flexible. Tigo is… “Power, where appropriate”. The cornerstone of Flex MLPE is its ability to address varying customer’s needs for MLPE solutions. Some systems, for example, need to address the challenge of a small number of shaded modules in a string (20% of panels), while other systems require safety shutdown capabilities for all modules in a string. With today’s MLPE offerings, the only way to solve these challenges is to deploy this full function first generation MLPE to each and every PV Module, which is very expensive and wasteful. Flex MLPE however, allows installers to deploy the appropriate functionality of MLPE to individual PV Modules, therefore providing the most cost effective solution, while maintaining equal or better benefits in energy harvesting, safety, and/or monitoring for a fraction of the cost.
