Tigo Energy, smart module company, supports team Techstyle Haus in the 2014 European Solar Decathlon competition. The team is a collaboration between Brown University, Rhode Island School of Design and the University of Applied Sciences in Erfurt, Germany. The competition challenges twenty collegiate teams from sixteen countries to design, build and operate solar-powered houses that are cost-effective, energy-efficient, and attractive. The winner of the competition is the team that best blends affordability, consumer appeal, and design excellence with optimal energy production and maximum efficiency.
“We decided to use the Tigo Energy smart module solution in our design,” said Mathew Breuer a student member of team Techstyle Haus. “When researching the industry we found that the Tigo solution offered us the best combination of design flexibility, cost-effectiveness, and energy yield. We’re excited to be able to field a beautiful residential solar house optimized by Tigo Energy’s smart module solution.”
This year’s competition will be held in Versailles, France, from June 27th – July 14th, 2014. This is the third European Solar Decathlon and the first year it will be held in France.
“We are really pleased to announce our support for team Techstyle Haus in this year’s Decathlon,” said Christian Carraro, General Manager for Tigo Energy Europe. “The Decathlon always brings fresh ideas and perspectives on how to blend solar, affordability, and aesthetics into a full package. The students and their innovations are a big part in driving our industry forward. Given the tremendous success of past events and the amazing designs we’ve seen for this year’s teams we expect a bright and exciting future for our industry.”
This announcement comes after a great set of industry announcements showcasing Tigo Energy’s increasing strength in the residential marketplace. Tigo Energy congratulates all teams participating in this year’s event and encourages everyone to attend the event if possible.
