Blattner Energy, a leader in renewable energy construction services in North America, has been selected as the EPC contractor for the 38.75 MWdc Portal Ridge solar project located in Lancaster, California by an affiliate of D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments, L.L.C. (DESRI).
“Portal Ridge will be Blattner’s first project with DESRI, and we are proud to have been selected as the EPC contractor to design, build and commission the project,” said Stephen Jones, director of solar at Blattner Energy. “We have almost 20 years of experience designing and constructing utility-scale power generation plants and interconnecting into major California utilities – this project and working with DESRI is a great fit for our organization.”
Construction on the project is scheduled to begin mid-July and be completed by mid-November of 2016 for Portal Ridge C and early January of 2017 for Portal Ridge B. The project spans over 187 acres in southern California, and will consist of a single-axis tracking system, more than 339,500 modules and 2000kW inverters. Blattner will self-perform the installation of the entire PV system. When complete the project will provide enough electricity to power approximately 9,500 average homes.
