Georgetown, Texas is taking its public buildings solar, beginning with its Westside Service Center. The center houses the offices for utility employees who service Georgetown utility systems Western Service Area. T
This project is the first of many planned solar projects for Georgetown’s publicly owned buildings, bringing the city closer to its goal of being powered by 100% renewable energy. The city has previously stated that the drive for renewable energy is motivated by a need to receive a competitive rate and reduce the risk of their consumers.
The project was completed by PCI solar ad consists of 468 Hanwha QCell solar panels, which were flush mounted to the standing seam roof using clips that did not penetrate the structure. The DC electricity produced by the panels on the roof is fed into Sungrow and Solectria inverters to convert the power to AC.
