Mount Pleasant Waterworks (MPW) rooftop solar project.

SolBright Renewable Energy announced the completion of the Mount Pleasant Waterworks (MPW) rooftop solar project. The project is the largest commercial rooftop solar in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. The 284-kW DC solar project will generate 382,900 kWh in its first year.

SolBright was pleased to partner with Mount Pleasant Waterworks as part of our strategic effort to provide municipalities operating cost reductions, environmental benefits and public awareness. Mount Pleasant Waterworks customers will be able to monitor the environmental benefits as well as the energy production of the rooftop solar project from a kiosk in the customer service area, and on the Mount Pleasant Waterworks website.

The solar project is an example of the renewable energy industry, and the positive impact of solar for South Carolina businesses. SolBright Renewable Energy is extremely proud to deliver a project for a customer in the community most of its employees call home.

“Having delivered projects throughout much of the nation, it is great to see solar starting to directly benefit Mount Pleasant and the great state of South Carolina,” said Patrick Hassell, SolBright’s managing director.

MPW continues to show strong strategic vision by investing in their own energy future. Operating under the Bill Credit Agreement provided by SCE&G, this solar array will allow Mount Pleasant Waterworks to reduce their annual energy spend by up to $52,000. SCE&G’s Bill Credit Agreement Program was developed to benefit commercial and industrial power customers that build and own their own solar power plants.
