Eaton’s Crouse-Hinds business recently added two new products to its solar division.
High Amperage Solar Combiner Boxes
Designed for use in PV systems with T-junction cable harnesses, the third-party certified high-amperage solar combiner boxes help to optimize the PV system and reduce labor and materials. When used at each panel row-end, the T-junctions reduce one positive and one negative string per row down to one positive and one negative string for every two rows of panels, which Eaton says cuts material and labor costs by up to 20%.
Available with the inclusion of disconnects and various surge protection and fusing options, the boxes can be ordered in configurations of up to 16 strings (600 and 1000 Vdc) and are housed in NEMA rated enclosures (4X, 4 or 3R).
The boxes are available with numerous labor-saving options including, but not limited to the following:
- Bulkhead connectors
- Cable whips
- Pre-engineered, cut-to-length cable harnesses
- Factory Installed feeder connectors
- Custom labeling
- Factory installed mounting strut
“The high amperage solar combiner boxes are essential components in innovative, cost-saving T-junction cable designed PV systems,” says Patrick Kane, product manager with Eaton. “The heat dissipating capability is crucial for these products and allows for an extended, dependable service life.”
Solar Combiner Mounting Kit
The solar combiner mounting kit for post mount applications simplifies field installation with the inclusion of pre-attached struts. Mounting solutions save on labor and further aid in reducing the number of pieces and parts that must be ordered separately.
Manufactured based upon enclosure style and size, the kits provide a consistent and aesthetically pleasing appearance along with optimizing installation time and increasing job site safety.
Built with stainless steel hardware for dependable termination and long life, the kits also provide galvanized steel reinforcement plates for added strength at critical support points.
