Sigora Solar just got bigger today by expanding its operations to reach more consumers who seek renewable energy and lower utility bills for their homes or businesses.

At a ceremony this morning, Sigora Solar officially opened its new corporate headquarters here, announced its expansion in Waynesboro, and the overall creation of up to 50 new jobs as a result of a $3.5 million capital investment.

“Today is an important day for our Sigora Solar family, and families across the Commonwealth. Our growth reflects the market that is driving America’s fastest growing energy sector and energy job creator,” said Logan Landry, Sigora Solar’s CEO. “Our story demonstrates that the people of Virginia clearly want a choice when it comes to their electricity provider. They want clean power, and they want a power supply with prices that are getting less expensive, not more.”

Launched in 2011, Sigora Solar grew quickly to become one of Inc. Magazine’s fastest growing companies in the U.S. “Our company was started by a couple of friends with a Honda Civic and a dream to save the environment while providing people an alternative choice for power. For five years, we grew by word-of-mouth that comes with great products and service,” Landry added.

The new corporate headquarters is located just off the downtown mall at 1222 Harris St., and it will house all of the back-office operations such as the executive team, the sales force, accounting, human resources and the finance staff.

At the moment, Sigora Solar’s headquarters employs 15, but that number is expected to more than double in the next few months. The new jobs are expected to focus on sales and accounting/finance functions. In addition to full-time employees, the company will work with the University of Virginia to offer students paid internships.

Landry also announced that Sigora Solar’s original home, Waynesboro, also will experience the company’s expansion and job growth. Sigora Solar is preparing to move to a new 15,000 square foot facility that will serve as the company’s operations headquarters and distribution center.

“We were founded in Waynesboro, and it will always be home to Sigora Solar,” he said. “The company plans to add another 20 jobs in Waynesboro. But when our utility scale projects under development take off, the number of jobs will expand exponentially.”

The company also opened a new Northern Virginia office in Manassas, which will join Sigora Solar’s offices in Richmond, Charlottesville, and Waynesboro.
