According to TechCrunch, delivery and installation of the new tiles in the U.S. will take place this year, and in 2018 for overseas orders. Price of the tiles is still unknown.
“Previous hints from Tesla on the cost of its solar tiles have suggested the price of the system will amount to the price of an ordinary roof plus the cost of electricity,” writes TechCrunch’s Natasha Lomas.
SunPower’s CEO told Business Insider he’s skeptical that the tiles can be offered a the low price Musk promised. Time will tell.
