NRG Energy will be the exclusive lanyard sponsor at CSP Today USA 2014.
NRG Energy, which partly owns and operates the 392 MW Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System, will be giving a presentation at CSP Today USA 2014 about running the world’s largest CSP plant. BrightSource Energy, another CSP developer and co-owner of Ivanpah, will discuss the successes and challenges of developing a plant of such scale.
On June 4, NRG Energy will provide a guided tour of the plant to delegates of CSP Today USA. The site visit is a first glance at the operational plant which received a loan guarantee of more than $1.6 billion as a result of the Department of Energy’s Loan Guarantee Program.
The Ivanpah plant was unveiled by Energy Secretary Dr. Ernest Moniz at the inaugural opening ceremony in February after months of anticipation. The plant features more than 175,000 heliostats pointing at three towers over 450 ft. tall.
NRG Energy operates the plant through their wholly owned subsidiary NRG Energy Services who are responsible for the operations and maintenance of the plant.
