Sunrun, a home solar company in the U.S., has partnered with home design expert Genevieve Gorder, and real estate experts Drew and Jonathan Scott, to show homeowners how connected technology is increasingly influencing trends in home design, energy consumption and property value.
The home design TV stars will spend the summer illustrating how consumers can leverage the latest connected technologies to maximize the aesthetic and financial value of their homes.
“Today, we find ourselves making dinner from a recipe on our tablets and measuring our heart rate and footsteps with a bracelet,” says Genevieve Gorder. “Cultural and societal shifts have shaped style trends for decades, and this is no exception. We will see connected technology continue to play a significant role in how we style and design the spaces around us.”
“The value of your home is influenced by a variety of factors, both inside and outside,” says Jonathan Scott. “My brother and I are joining Sunrun this summer to show homeowners how easy improvements can also save you money or increase your home’s value. As an example, one thing to consider with the connected technology movement is all that needs to plug in and charge! At the heart of every smart home is an even smarter way to power it all.”
The smart home industry – homes with inter-connected technologies – is expected to double by 2018, according to a study from Juniper Research. As homes get smarter, and consumers begin to adapt to new technologies in their homes, they must also consider the smartest way to power it all. Sunrun encourages homeowners to take control of their energy consumption in this connected era to build an even smarter, more valuable home with the sun.
“Much like the allure of the ‘smart home’ movement, Sunrun’s solar service model has always been about making consumer’s lives more efficient,” says Lynn Jurich, Sunrun CEO. “We install, insure, monitor and maintain the solar panels on your roof so that they always look good and are optimized to support your electricity needs. We are excited about this partnership and the opportunity to inspire our fans with what we believe to be the future of home style, design and value.”
Through Sunrun’s Brilliant Design Sweepstakes, now through July 11, 2014, homeowners can and enter for a chance to meet Gorder or the Scott brothers for a one-on-one design consultation to learn more about how the ‘smart home’ is influencing home design and value. To submit, entrants only need to provide their name, zip code, email and phone number.
