JA Solar, manufacturer of high-performance solar power products, recently started mass production of its Percium Solar Cell.
The Percium solar cell, is the first P-TYPE solar cell in the industry to surpass a conversion efficiency of 20%, with an average conversion efficiency of 20.4%. The 6×10 Percium cells module, with an average power rating of 285W, will be put into mass production in approximately one week, with an expectation that they will reach an average power rating of 290W by the end of the year. The move to mass production of the module has been executed in only three months to meet demand, says the company.
The 6×10 Percium cells modules were officially launched earlier this year in the Japanese, British, Israeli, Chinese and German markets and JA Solar says they have received positive responses, especially from European and Japanese markets.
“High conversion efficiency can bring about low system cost per watt, which means low BOS, transportation, installation and land cost,” says Yong Liu, CEO of JA Solar. “Percium solar cell uses Passivated backside and local BSF technology to ensure the excellent low-light performance of Percium cells module. High cost performance at the system side can help to reduce cost of power per kWH.”
JA Solar currently has one Percium solar cell production line and will have four by October 2014; it expects to have eight in 2015. The capacity of Percium solar cell is expected to reach 170 MW by the end of this year and 350 MW next year.
