Mission Pie is a café and bakery located in San Francisco’s Mission district. The company is values-driven, committed to creating food made from the best ingredients, in a way that builds community, supports farmers, respects the environment and invests in their workers. In March 2012, Mission Pie installed a 12-kW solar system on its roof. Over the last year, the system has produced 13,250 kWh of electricity, which is enough power to make 271,360 lattes.

Dosa specializes in the rich culinary tradition of Southern India. From countertop to rooftop, every aspect of this award-winning restaurant is focused on sustainability. Engineers at Sun Light & Power designed and installed an active, closed loop thermal system for water heating to meet the restaurant’s needs, while reducing carbon emissions by 33,754 lbs. annually. The lay-out of equipment on the roof has been designed to allow for a future solar PV system to be installed.

The Plant café organic at Pier 3 is a casual upscale café and restaurant. Situated on San Francisco’s Embarcadero, a two-minute walk from the Ferry Building, it offers both open and covered outdoor seating along the waterfront and Embarcadero. Powered in part by rooftop solar power, the kitchen and cafe are separated from the full service restaurant and bar by a covered outdoor underpass.
