Positive Energy Solar teamed up with three builders to design sun-powered homes, which are featured in this year’s Santa Fe Parade of Homes, August 15-17 and August 20-22.
Parade organizer Santa Fe Area Homebuilders Association (SFAHBA) says nearly every home on the tour meets or exceeds green building standards.
“This is a testament to Santa Fe and SFAHBA’s commitment to sustainable practices such as energy efficiency and water conservation,” says Karen Paramanandam, marketing director for Positive Energy Solar and SFAHBA Remodelers council member.
Praxis worked with Positive Energy Solar to design and build the first home nestled in the foothills of Santa Fe. This net-zero energy custom home features a discreet ground mount solar array that provides enough power to offset the electric needs of the homeowners with minimal impact to the building structure, landscape and views. This type of system is ideal for home sites with acreage and features easy installation and low maintenance.
Woods Design Builders is presenting a custom home in Las Campanas. The home boasts a hidden gem on the rooftop nestled below the line of the parapet – the solar array is angled to maximize solar production without compromising on design and aesthetics. Positive Energy Solar worked with the Homeowners Association to get approval prior to installation, providing the renderings and walking the design through the HOA process.
The third home, built by John Hansen Company, was custom designed to meet the needs of the homeowner and the requirements of the HOA, a specialty of the design team at Positive Energy Solar. The system will offset 100% of the part-time usage of the home, and is designed to be expandable once the house is occupied full time.
