Hill & Smith Solar is a division of Wolverhampton-based infrastructure product market leader Hill & Smith Ltd and is part of Hill & Smith Holdings PLC, a globally operating group of companies that is listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE: HILS.L). The group’s longstanding experience in steel product manufacturing has benefitted its latest division in the development of its custom-made steel ground mount systems that adapt to individual project requirements and locational needs.

Since 2010, Hill & Smith Solar has supplied more than 65 MW worth of PV ground mount structures to large-scale projects in its home market, the United Kingdom. In addition to its British projects, Hill & Smith Solar has delivered 20 MW to projects in Germany, 18 MW to projects in Bulgaria, 13 MW to projects in Romania and has as well supplied the first ground mount project in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Within its current project portfolio, Hill & Smith Solar has designed a number of bespoke racking systems for a wide variety of locations, including many with more challenging ground conditions: these include a system with three different foundation solutions for the first brownfield solar park in Baglan Bay, South Wales, a system following a 20 degree slope in north-south direction for a 10 MW project in an old sandpit in Germany, and a purpose-built concrete ballast foundation to overcome rocky ground conditions and high wind loads in its pioneering project in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Over the last year, Hill & Smith Solar increased sales of its systems by 30% year on year, and has recently added installation to the range of services offered. The company is currently working on the production and installation of a number of UK based projects worth 30 MW, and is anticipating another successful year in 2014.
